The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works.  -Psalm 145:17 (NKJV, emphasis added).

Righteousness.  I so often want to be right, but how often do I aspire to be righteous?  The desire to always be right is often rooted in selfishness and thus is anything but righteous.  But righteousness, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is to be "free from guilt or sin."  In essence, it's about the opposite of the selfish desire to always be right.

God is absolutely righteous; He is completely free of guilt and sin.  That can be hard to fully understand since we are all sinful.  But His righteousness is, in part, what makes Him God.

Even more incredible is that He enables us to be righteous through Christ's death and resurrection on the cross.  2 Corinthians 5:21 reads, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (NKJV, emphasis added).  Isn't that absolutely amazing?

We serve a righteous God, a holy God, a pure God.  The more I learn about His attributes, the more in awe I am at who He truly is!
