Do you have trouble believing God is good?  Many people do.  We see the brokenness of the world we live in, and it's tempting to ask how God could be good and yet allow the tragedies that we see happening all around us.

But that's where faith in God's Word comes in.  He promises over and over that He is good despite how bad our Earthly situation is.  Let's take a look at a few verses that say God is good:

  • 1 Chronicles 16:34 - "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever" (NKJV, emphasis added).
  • Psalm 119:68 - "You are good, and do good; teach me Your statutes" (NKJV, emphasis added).
  • Psalm 145:9 - "The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His work" (NKJV, emphasis added).

Because of these and other similar promises about God's goodness found throughout Scripture, we can trust Romans 8:28, where the Lord promises that He is working out all things for the good of those who love Him.  The things of God confound the wise, because what looks like a bad thing to the world might be just the thing God uses for our good.

We do, indeed, serve a very good God!
